Dear praying friends,
I’ve got GREAT news, God is still in the business of saving the Lost, and I’m so so glad!!!
I love love love LOVE Evening Beach Evangelism!
Please warm yourself up with this update on the outstanding things God did!
Lots and lots of people from around the world and all different ages gathered around and listened to the gospel message, many staying around afterward for one-on-one discussions! We gave out thousands of gospel booklets, Gospel of John books, and evangelistic DVDs! ! Very exciting!!!
I had a first this summer. I found myself talking with a Neo-Nazi (yes, really.) Perhaps I’ve spoken with a White Supremacist before, but this was the first time I knowingly did so. It was creepy and unnerving.
Here’s how it went:
I approached a young man in his 20s and offered him a Gospel Booklet. The title of the book is “Where Will You Spend Eternity?” and that’s an easy way to get into a witnessing conversation. I simply asked him, “Where will you spend eternity? Do you ever think about that?”
He was very animated but didn’t want to talk about eternity. He wanted to talk about Politics.
I kept trying to transition back to spiritual matters, but he wasn’t having any of it. It wasn’t long before he told me that, “Jews are responsible for Communism,” and that “People of Color are polluting our genetics.” He called Jewish people, “the guys with little hats” and he called People of Color “negroids.”
I had enough and told him that there is one race, the human race, and that God loves all groups. I told him that he needs to repent of the evil in his heart. Please pray for this man. He needs Jesus to save his soul and his thinking too.
You never know what will happen at the beach!
Also, Beach Evangelism is a great place to train and build up the Church! We had Christians from a number of different local churches come out this summer to participate and hone their evangelism skills! (And find out that it’s not so terrifying after all.)
And this really is a TEAM ministry. I want to express my gratitude to my ministry partners and friends, Chris McKinley and Chip Davis, who lead the ministry while I was away a number of times when preaching at Summer Camps. Also, I had an unplanned medical procedure that left me in pain, so Chris and Chip ran things while I was recovering. I thank God for these guys!!!
Please consider coming out and joining us on the beach next summer! I post updates and info at: https://beach.luke-15.org. And please email me to tell me you’re interested and I’ll add you to an email group of people who consider coming to the beach.
I’ll let the photos tell the story of how Jesus worked…

This is Kaitlyn and Wesley and Kyler. (You can't see Kyler because I'm in the way - sorry.) Kyler may be a very new Christian. He's like the Ephesian disciples in Acts 19 who never heard of the Holy Spirit. Kyler uses a lot of New Age language and terms, but seems sincere in his desire to follow Jesus. It's like he doesn't know how. Wesley is his friend and isn't a believer at all. He asked me what it means to be "Born Again." It was wonderful to explain it to him. He gladly took a Gospel of John from me. Kaitlyn is a sweet sweet young lady but she's struggling and needs prayer. I can't get into specifics, but please uphold this young lady in earnest prayer. Here's something very cool: Kyler gave me his phone number and we've been texting. He and I met up for Coffee and we've texted a number of times since then. Praise God.

What does it look like to share Jesus with those in the LGBTQ+ Community? It looks the same as with anybody else. Chip used our painted riddle to start a conversation with Bree and her girlfriend. They were both very sweet and kind. Chip used God's commandments to demonstrate that we're all sinners and all in need of forgiveness. Chip explained why forgiveness is offered only through the death and resurrection of Jesus. This is Great News for the world! Both Bree and her girlfriend took a Gospel booklet. It was a friendly interaction that went very well. Please pray that God will save these two ladies.

This is Emily, Jamie, and Robert (and their group of friends). I took them through our painted riddles and that lead into asking them, "What do you think happens after you die?" And that lead to talking about Heaven, Hell, sin, Jesus, the cross, and resurrection. Jamie and Emily were paying attention the closest. I told them, "you could be my daughters, and if you were, I'd want to give you God's word." Emily and Jamie and Robert each took a copy of The Gospel of John. Jamie said, "That's so sweet." Everybody else took a Gospel tract.

You never know what the Holy Spirit is doing in someone. I got the impression that these guys weren't really into our conversation, but one of them took a Bible from me. So you never know!

This is Evington, and he's from Haiti. When he was a little kid in Haiti, he received a Samaritan's Purse box with a soccer ball. Then he was schooled by a Missionary in Haiti. Evington is a Christian now, but he's looking for a good Church in New Hampshire. We were able to suggest a handful. Praise God!

Wes got to share Jesus with a whole crowd of people! They all took Gospel Booklets and many of them read them aloud on the spot.

This is Jesse, a very colorful man who Chris got to talk to for over a half hour. Jesse is turned off from Christianity because of people who claim to follow Jesus but do the same things the rest of the world does. Jesse admitted to struggling with alcohol and witchcraft, among other things. Get this: Chris was rescued by Jesus from witchcraft and he got to share his story with Jesse. How perfect that God put Chris and Jesse together! Chris encouraged Jesse that on Judgement Day, we won’t be able to point at all the other hypocrites and say God should let us in to Heaven because others are worse sinners than us. We must all stand accountable for our own sin. The only remedy is Christ’s blood shed on our behalf. If we don’t have faith in God’s Substitute, then we will pay the price for our own sin. Jesse took a copy of The Gospel of John. Please pray that the Lord leads him to repentance and faith in Christ.

This is such a HAPPY sign. Last year, because of Covid-19, the bathroom closed at 8pm. We stay waaaay later than that, and we drink a lot of water. So it was terrific to see that the bathroom was opened late this summer. Yay!

This is George and Ariana two really sweet people. We had a great conversation about evidence for God. They asked really great questions and seemed to really consider my points. I shared with them our personal sin against God and His death and resurrection to purchase forgiveness. George and Ariana took an essay that I gave them with evidence for the resurrection and a Gospel message. That essay is at https://risen.great-news.org if you'd like to see it for yourself. Please pray for these two kind people. Thank you!

Chip took this nice family through the questions on our paint-board. They left with Gospel Booklets and a lot of vital truths to think about.

This is Tim (on the left). He told Will that you have to be good to get to Heaven. Will patiently explained that none of us are good enough. Will shared with him God's Word, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Tim was very kind and heard the Gospel message.

This is Paris and Justin, two very kind people who seem soooooo close to turning to Jesus. John had a very productive conversation with them. They each received Gospel Booklets and asked good questions. Neither one have a religious background, and they don't go to Church (not yet anyway). Please pray that Paris and Justin repent and trust in Jesus. Thank you so much!

This Dad and Daughter wheeled right up to Robert to talk about spiritual things. The man told Robert that he wants to be a good person. Robert pointed out that nobody is good. We all do what we know to be wrong. Then the man said something that a lot of people say. He said he doesn't like our "negative" approach. Robert did a superb job addressing that with kindness and intelligence and a soft voice. Robert pointed out that being honest about the negative things in this world shows us the greatness of God. God's holiness wouldn't seem all that special if everyone were sinless. But because we experience and know this messed-up, broken, and painful world, that makes us see Jesus' righteousness as all that more amazing. And Jesus made the way for us to be seen as righteousness too. The Dad opened up and said this makes sense. He thanked Robert and left with a lot to consider. Brothers and Sisters, we need not and must not shy away from talking about sin and depravity. If we talk about it with love and concern, it very powerfully illustrates to people WHY we need The Savior

This is Mark and Paula (and their dog, Piper - a VERY GOOD DOG!!!) I love dogs because they lead to evangelism. I asked Mark and Paula if I could pat their Sheltie as they walked by, and they were very happy to let me. So we talked about dogs and how terrific they are (the slobber, the unconditional love). And that lead to talking about the state of the world today. And that lead to me being able to share my story of being a Jew who wanted to disprove the Bible and disprove Jesus, but coming to know He is the way. Mark said he appreciated my willingness to hear the other side of a topic. He and his wife took a copy of my testimony booklet called "A Jew and His God" and took a fake Million Dollar Bill with the gospel message on the back. Feel free to check out "A Jew and His God" at: https://mystory.Great-News.org.

I didn't get these guys names, but we spoke for a while. The gentleman in the middle did most of the talking. He reminded me of me before I was a Christian. He had a lot of strong opinions about faith and the Bible, but had never actually studied the subject. Whenever I asked him clarifying questions, he would shift his position. First he said he's an Atheist. So I asked him a few simple questions and he said, "well, I'm not saying we weren't made by nobody." I congratulated him on moving to Agnostic. That's the right direction. Sadly he refused to even take a Gospel booklet and he thanked me for my time. I often say that Evangelism is a "team sport" and it takes many people. Maybe I'm at the beginning of this man's story of coming to saving faith? Please pray to that end. Thanks so so much.

This is Lexi and Sequoia, two sweet young ladies who talked with John for over 20 minutes about Eternity, God, salvation, and Jesus. Sequoia appeared to be much more open then her friend Lexi, but you never know. John had them read out of his Bible and explain to him what the verses meant. (Very smart because "faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ" Romans 10:17). They let him pray for them. Sequoia in particular appeared to be close to salvation by faith. Please pray for these two women. Thank you so so much. Jesus is on the move!!!

This gentleman approached me to say "I respect what you're doing but you really shouldn't be doing this." He told us not to make people fearful. I asked if he wanted to talk about that but he walked away. But then he came back to talk with Bill. He claimed to be God and told him not to evangelize. He said there is no Word of God. Sadly he wouldn't listen, but Bill remained very calm, so let's hope this man will hear the Gospel again and trust Jesus.

These girls were sooooo sweet. They listened to the bad news that we've all offended a Holy God, and they listened to the Great News of our Great Savior. They each took Gospel Booklets and thanked me.

This is Liam, and when I asked him, "Do you ever think about where you'll spend Eternity," he said, "all the time." Liam has lots of questions. He wanted to know why other religions aren't as good as Christianity, so we talked about works vs grace. It turns out he has an Uncle who is a Pastor. I bet he's been praying for Liam. Liam received a Gospel of John and thanked me for talking with him. Please pray for this thoughtful young man.

This is Mia and Luis, a very sweet couple I met at the beach. They said they have absolutely no religious upbringing. I took them through some commandments so they understood their need for forgiveness. I asked them, "Do you know what god did so that we could be forgiven?" And they said they have never heard. I had the privilege to sew The Gospel seed in brand new soil. Please pray that Mia and Luis receive Christ by faith.

This is Lucas and Maddie, the cutest couple I've met in a really long time. On the way to the beach, my evangelism partner, Chris, said that he wanted to meet people hungry for Jesus and eager to hear God's Word. Lucas and Maddie were the answer to that prayer. They're both 19, want to get married, and are attending a Christian Church together. They might not yet be Born Again, but they appear to be very close. I gave them each a copy of The Gospel of John and they were sooooo thankful. They told me that I should make TikTok videos to reach their age-group for Jesus. Maybe I'll do that. Something to pray about.

This is Cody, a very thoughtful and kind young man. Chris brought him through a handful of God's commandments so Cody could understand that he's guilty before God. Cody said he was concerned that he's on the way to Hell. Chris got to share with Cody the Great News of Jesus, who died for sinners and resurrected with power, proving he's the Son of God. Chris asked him, "When will you trust in Christ?" Cody considered and said, "I don't know." Chris said, "If I gave you a Bible would you read it?" Cody said, "Yes" and Chris gave him a copy of the Scriptures.

From Abraham… “… came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”. (Hebrews 11:12). Perhaps we can say that Abraham was the first evangelist with a “beach” ministry.
Abraham was the first evangelist with a “beach” ministry. I LOVE THAT!!!
Thank you for your encouragement and prayers, brother. I’m thankful for you.
