Dear Praying friends,
Reaching over 300 kids and parents in China with the Great News – wow! That’s exciting!
Most people who know me know that I’ve had a heart for the beautiful Chinese people for many many years. Even before I was married, I felt a calling to adopt a baby girl from China. And praise God Shelby and I were able to do that in 2006.
So when a colleague of mine asked me if I’d be willing to give a full Gospel Magic Show that would be live-streamed in Zoom over the Internet to China, my answer was “YES YES YES!!!”
And Jesus really blessed it!!! There were over 100 logins to our Zoom meeting. And each one had at least 3 people (maybe more). Kids were reached, and their parents and other family members too. Hallelujah!!!
We had two terrific translators who took everything I said and translated it on-the-spot to Mandarin (even my corny jokes!!!)
At the end of the program, there was a Question and Answer time and that just slayed me. Sweet voices of Chinese children asking me questions in Mandarin. I’m very thankful we had two translators! I wanted to fly the 14 hours over there to give these kiddos hugs! ❤️
People took risks to make this happen. The Chinese Government monitors Internet Activity, and preaching the Gospel message is illegal. Our translator changed her name and covered her camera. Many of the families attending the Zoom meeting also covered their cameras.
I actually hope our meeting was monitored by Government Officials. If they were listening in, then they heard a very clear Gospel Message! Woo hoo!!!
To the right are the posters the Event Organizers developed in English and Chinese. (They named me “Mark the Magnificent.” I would have chosen “Mediocre” for myself 😮😉)
I have done Gospel Magic Tricks for years, but always just one or two to introduce the lesson I’m about to teach. This was my first time doing tricks for an hour to teach. I was scared. But God was GREAT!
The magic tricks were used to teach:
- who God is
- what is the Bible
- God’s power in Creation
- what sin is
- what sin does to us
- who Jesus is
- what Jesus can do and what He did do
and - God’s plan for people to be Born Again.
What a night!
This comment I received from one of the kiddos made it all worth it!!!
I’m very thankful for the kiddos who helped me here in the US. They did super! And I hope they got a taste for God’s desire to reach all nations. And I’m thankful for my Home Church, because they allowed me to use their facilities and Internet connection.
Please please please pray for the many Gospel seeds planted, and that perhaps I’d continue to be used to teach Chinese families should the Lord open that door.

These are my terrific kid helpers. I hope they got to see that God desires to reach ALL Nations, and God desires to use them!

You ever read the Word of God and it just "burns" inside you like a flaming fire? Yeah, that happened to me in this photo.
Me and the kiddos in New Hampshire were reaching kiddos and families throughout China - WOW!
"S," "I," and "L" helped with a rope trick. I cut a rope in half to illustrate that sin cut off our relationship with God. Then I "magically" restored the rope to show what the blood of Jesus through the Gospel does.
"I" is in the middle. I LOVE the reaction on his face!
"W" helped me illustrate how creative and powerful God is!
I'm sucking "As" brains to guess his card.
"T" is helping me with a razzle-dazzle trick that illustrates the Gospel Message very clearly.
The water is perfectly see-through because that is how most everybody sees themselves. We see ourselves as good and pure.
The water becomes very dark to show us how sinful our own hearts are.
Only the cross of Jesus can truly make us clean. This is one of my favorite magic tricks.
This is a fun light-up "crazy tube" that makes fun noises. This trick teaches us that Christians need one another in a Church Fellowship.
