Recently I had the privilege to preach the Sunday morning sermon at one of my favorite churches, North Deering Alliance Church (NDAC), in South Portland, Maine. NDAC is a special church to me because it is pastored by my former Pastor, Rick Francis. Rick is still a good friend and I consider him a mentor. But not only that, but this church, tucked away in Southern Maine, has members from I believe 13 different countries! It reminds me of Revelation 5:9 where the Bible says that by Jesus’ blood, He “ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
My sermon came from the gospel of Luke, chapter 15, where Jesus rebukes the religious leaders because they thought there were some people who were beneath them. To correct them, Jesus told three parables: The Parable of the Lost Sheep, The Parable of the Lost Coin, and The Parable of the Prodigal Son. And in so doing, He gave us a picture of the heart of God for the lost.
