I love love love LOVE Subway Ministry!
I remember when I first heard that OAC goes into the subways to evangelize, I was thinking, “Eww, it’s gross down there, and dark, and people aren’t friendly.”
After all these years I’ve learned I was wrong – big time!
Well, it is gross down there (thank God for hand sanitizer!), and sometimes dark. And every once in a while someone acts unfriendly.
But for the most part, Subway Evangelism is some of the most effective ministry we do all year!
God always seems to work so amazingly in the subway. And He seems to bring people from around the world to us.
I trust that, whether on the streets, or underground, at the beach, or in a housing complex, God will work wherever His Gospel is faithfully preached. And for that, I am grateful!
I want to keep you updated on some of the neat things God has down underground over the past few months. Very exciting stuff!
I’ll let the following photos do the explaining of some of what went on recently.
In addition to the people in the photos, some other people who stood out are:
-
Gladys: Gladys is an older woman from Haiti. She told me that her brother was killed in Haiti, as well as so many of her friends. Gladys began crying. I listened to her tell me how her husband left her and took both of their children. She hasn’t seen them in 30 years. Gladys loves Jesus. He’s her everything. She gave me a hug. And the way I knew she was telling me the truth is that she didn’t ask me for money. Instead she asked me for gospel tracts. She became giddy with excitement at the thought of placing a gospel tract on each bed at her shelter. And she praised God!
-
Jimmy: Jimmy is a young man in his early 30’s, and wearing a nice suit. When I asked him what he thought would get someone into Heaven, he talked a lot about how we need to be good to one another and be respectful. He knew we had to repent but didn’t know much about Jesus. He kept talking and didn’t let me get a word in. He told me he reads Mormon literature. He took gospel booklet and then got on the train.
-
Chris: Chris is a young man in his 20’s who is a recording artist and training to be an MMA Fighter. He told us that his Mom is a Born Again Christian, and prays for him. He knows he needs to get right with God, but he also knows he’s running from God. He heard the gospel very clearly. A Divine Appointment.
-
Luigi: Luigi is a very talkative older man who appeared to be homeless. He also appeared to be severely mentally ill. Still, Eric listened to Luigi and shared the gospel with him.
-
Sabina: Sabina is a young woman who asked me where to find a good Bible-believing Church. I was able to give her contact info with a terrific Church near where she lives.
-
Tony: Tony told me that he was a thief and recently got out of jail. He told me that Jesus saved him in 1994. Completely changed his life. I asked him how I could pray for him and he asked for an apartment. He’s waiting for one and is currently homeless. We prayed on the spot and he was very thankful and told us to keep doing what we’re doing.
-
Lammy: Lammy is an unusual man who Chris, Ralph, and I all spoke with. In total, we spoke for over an hour. Lammy says you must be baptized in a river (not a pond or a pool – must be a river). He says you must follow commandments. He told us that he has long hair because even in his appearance he’s trying to be like Jesus. We all reasoned with him to unpack his false mystical beliefs. Sadly, Lammy won’t join a Church. He’s on his own. The three of us explained the true gospel of grace with him.
-
Keisha: Keisha is a 7th Day Adventist. She said water baptism is necessary for salvation, but after we talked, she reworded it and said it’s not necessary for salvation, but should be done if you’re saved. We agreed and shook hands. She was a sweet lady.
Please pray for us and those we meet!
We love you and thank God for you! Please contact us anytime and let us know how we can pray for you!
Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, and notes of encouragement, without which we would not be able to reach the Lost for Jesus Christ!
And please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be blessed by it!
All for Jesus,
Mark, Shelby, Vivienne, Juliana, Caleb, and Gabriella
