Wow, wow, wow! Last Saturday I was invited to Community Bible Church to teach an “Evangelism Crash Course” and then lead an outreach in the town. It was so amazing for a NUMBER of reasons:
- I have been battling a sinus infection and have had coughing fits where I can’t speak or breath for a while, yet my voice was fine every time I needed it. 🙂
- The weather forecast was for rain right when our outreach was supposed to be, but it dried up in time, people were at the park, and just as we were leaving it began to rain.
- God’s people stood up for Christ and God acted as He always does!!!
The evangelism class went very well. It ran about 3 hours, but went by quickly. There were about a dozen attendees, but never underestimate what God will do with a small handful of people who are willing to say, “Yes, I’m scared to evangelize, but with God I can do it!”
Get this… the rain stopped and we were able to head down to the park down the street from the church. Despite it being a little chilly, there were about 30 kids in the park, ranging from age 6 all the way up to early 20’s.
We got there and handed out gospel tracts, began chatting with people, and I used the famous “OAC Three Ropes” illusion to share the gospel with a larger group of kids.
But when I began using my paint board, all the kids in the park, whether they were skateboarding, playing basketball, or on the swings, all gathered around to watch the message. It’s one of my favorites, called “Lost or Saved?” and it’s based on the true story of the Titanic. Shelby actually painted the picture for me so it was a family effort!
If you’d like to watch a video of the message, it is available on YouTube and right here:
As much as I love sharing my faith, I believe that it is MUCH more important for me to help others share their faith, than for me to just do it alone. As much as I love using the paint board to share the words of life with a crowd, I am convinced revival will come when more and more Christians are emboldened in little ways. That’s why I’m excited about what happened Saturday. The fantastic group from Community Bible Church stepped out in faith and increased their boldness, and Jesus was with them!
The best part… it didn’t die on Saturday when I left. As part of the training, I gave away a half-sheet document I wrote called “Evangelism Cheat Sheet.” Here’s what one of the attendees of the class said about how it was used the next day at church.
Amy and April ended up using your little “cheat sheet” to talk with 2 new people during the Sunday school hour at church this morning. Their names are Nicole and Ben. Nicole has been coming for a while with her 3 kids, and we just met Ben at the park on Saturday.
I love this! Christians sharing the gospel of Christ unashamed, and a man named Ben came to church as a result of meeting him at the park – praise God! Please do keep them in your prayers.
The attendee also wrote to me:
Also, I just had to tell you that I gave out 3 million dollar bills at Walmart last night. I brought them in my pocket just in case I had an opportunity, and God worked it out so that I had 2 different problems and had to go to customer service and wait for help with something. So I gave them out to 2 very helpful employees and one other woman who I got the strike up a conversation with as we waited in line together for customer service! I am going to buy myself a bunch that I can put our church address on and my email address.
Fantastic!

And here are photos!
I thank God for the opportunity to represent Him last weekend. Please keep all of this in prayer. And if anyone would like me to come to serve you and your church in any way, please contact me anytime.
All for Jesus,
Mark
