An Unlikely Voice for Jesus – an Evangelist with Asperger’s Syndrome

Jesus used Mike so powerfully!

Perhaps the most amazing part of last week’s evangelism training week was what happened with one of the students, Mike from Michigan.

Mike has Asperger’s Syndrome, and being in a crowd physically makes him sick. He particularly struggles in situations where there’s a lot of noise.

Can you imagine Mike being a part of subway ministry? It’s LOUD down there! Lots of metal rattling from trains coming in and out. Lots of echos from foot traffic. Lots of fans spinning above your head. It’s noisy!

But Mike wanted to share Christ with the lost down in the subways, so he stepped out in faith and did it.

I have heard a lot of people preach in the open air, and Mike was not “good for a guy with Asperger’s Syndrome,” but he was very very good by ANY standard! What I heard when he opened his mouth was not the unsure man I had chatted with all week. I heard the Holy Spirit speaking through this man. He was so authentic, caring, compelling, and warned people with love and authority and pleaded with them to turn from their sin and trust Jesus!

I literally cried listening to him, and when he was done, I actually clapped (and some others joined in.)

God used Mike. It was so beautiful. I’m so so glad I was there to witness it, and I’m HAPPY to share it with you. Please be encouraged! God can speak through anybody… me, you, anybody. We only have to speak.
