Warm Up Hearing About What Jesus Did at the Beach!

Posted on Nov 07 , 2017 in Beach & Blog & Church_Teams & Street_Evangelism

Dear praying friends,

I’ve got GREAT news, God is still in the business of saving the Lost, and I’m so so glad!!!

I love love love LOVE Evening Beach Evangelism!

Please warm yourself up with this update on the outstanding things God did!

Lots and lots of people from around the world and all different ages gathered around and listened to the gospel message, many staying around afterwards for one-on-one discussions! We gave out thousands of gospel tracts! Very exciting!!!

Also, Beach Evangelism is a great place to train and build up the Church! We had Christians from a number of different local churches come out this summer to participate and hone their evangelism skills! (And find out that it’s not so terrifying after all.)

I’ll let the photos tell much of the story…

In addition to the people in the photos, some other people who stood out are:

  • Brad and Ian: Brad and Ian are a couple of young men who thought they were good enough to go to Heaven. I took through “The Good Person Test.” After a little bit into it they said, “There’s nobody good enough. We’re all sinners.” Now that’s a great place to start the gospel!

  • John and Stephanie: John and Stephanie wanted me to prove to them that God exists. Of course, I believe from Romans 1 that everyone already believes, but suppresses that truth. So I try to demonstrate to them what they already know. And God provided professionally sculpted sandcastles for the job! (Please see the photo of the sandcastles above.) I asked them if they could believe that those sandcastles were formed by a sandstorm, and they said, “No.” And then I pointed out some of the complex and amazing ways we’re made, and said, “compared to you, those sandcastles are literally a pile of dirt. Of course you have a Maker.” And one of them, I forget which one, said, “It’s easy to believe when you say it like that.” You know, it IS easy to believe. The hard part is to follow Jesus because it goes against our pride. And we talked about that.

  • Dillon and Nate: It was pretty obvious that Dillon and Nate were “stoned.” But they seemed very open to knowing the truth, despite the chemicals in their bloodstream.

  • Amelia and Hailey: Amelia didn’t like my message on cancer (see YouTube video below). She was very polite, and thought it was mean to talk about sin or Cancer. It was upsetting to her. I apologized for upsetting her, and assured her that wasn’t my intention. But if someone were dying of Cancer, the most loving thing you could do is to warn them so they’ll seek a cure.

  • Jaylen: When we go through our “riddles” messages, usually it takes a few minutes for someone in the crowd to get the right answers. Not with Jaylen! Jaylen is a 10-year-old little genius who got all the riddles nearly immediately before any of the adults could get them. Actually,
    a sweet kid.

  • Chris and Briana: Some people really make an impression on you, but you don’t realize it right away. Chris was a man in his 40s who didn’t seem all that different than most people I talk to. But he was saying that he doesn’t need God and God isn’t necessary for him. And I said that it’s very serious to reject God. And that’s when Chris began to cry. He told me all about himself, and how he can’t see his 14-year-old daughter, Briana. He loves her, but is separated from her. He told me so much. And he was much more open once he began to tear up.

  • Kisstrell: Kisstrell is a free-spirited young lady who said she didn’t believe in anything. But she wasn’t close-minded. She heard me out and took more information from me to read later.

  • Ray and Landon: Ray and Landon are two teenagers who came to chat. They said, “We have a lot to think about.” Indeed they do!

If you’d like to see for yourself what an open air message at the beach looks like, here’s a video of one for you to watch:

We love you and thank Jesus for you!

Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, and notes of encouragement, without which we would not be able to reach the Lost for Jesus Christ!

Please contact us anytime and let us know how we can pray for you!

And please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be blessed by it!

For Christ and His gospel,

Mark, Shelby, Vivienne, Juliana, Caleb, and Gabriella

P.S. If you want to know what’s going on for beach ministry NEXT summer, please let me know and I’ll email you when I begin planning that out next year. Summer 2018 will be here faster than you think! You can also keep an eye out for http://beach.Luke-15.org, as I’ll post news there.

We Made the Front Page of a Christian Newspaper

Posted on Nov 03 , 2017 in Blog & Colleges & Kids_Ministry & Street_Evangelism

Dear Praying Friends,

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the head of a Christian Newspaper who told me that he heard of the work I do and wanted to write an article about it.

Honestly, I was a little skeptical that this was real, but after talking with others, I found out that the newspaper is legit.

A reporter from The Good News Today called me and we talked about Evangelism, Missions, Theology, even Jewish food!

When I received the electronic version of the article, I was humbled and overjoyed. Humbled by the nice words written about our work, and overjoyed that readers will learn that God uses Street Evangelism!

The Good News Today is a 20-page monthly newspaper with a circulation of 16,000 throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

If you’d like to read an electronic version of the article, please feel free to click here, or click the graphic below.

I hope this post has encouraged you.

Thank you for your partnership, prayers, and financial support, without which we could not be reaching the lost for Jesus Christ!!!

Please share this update with others you think would be blessed by it!

all for Jesus,

Mark (and family)

Evangelism Dream Come True: A Million People Flood Into Boston!!!

Posted on Feb 13 , 2017 in Blog & Street_Evangelism

Dear Saints,

A quick disclaimer: When I say “Saints,” I mean it in the New Testament sense, and I’m not referring to the Football Team, the New Orleans Saints.

Anyone who knows me at all knows that I love Jesus, I love sharing Jesus with the Lost, and I love the New England Patriots! So I’m so so so excited that they won the Superbowl because it means that my team and I got a SUPERB Evangelism Opportunity! The City of Boston had a Parade for the Patriots and ONE MILLION PEOPLE showed up!!!

A Million People all showing up within a few hours of each other meant lots of traffic, TONS of people on public transportation, and TONS AND TONS of people to talk to and give gospel tracts to!

In just a few hours, we gave out over 6,000 gospel tracts!!!

Just imagine if only a small percentage of those got read. 6,000 in a few hours! I have to believe that God will bring many people to faith and repentance because the gospel “is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).

It was a cold cold day. It snowed, and then rained, and then hailed, and then snowed again. We were very cold, but it was so worth it!

I’ll let the photos tell much of the story…

We love you and thank Jesus for you!

Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, and notes of encouragement, without which we would not be able to reach the Lost for Jesus Christ!

Please contact us anytime and let us know how we can pray for you!

And please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be blessed by it!

For Christ and His gospel,

Mark, Shelby, Vivienne, Juliana, Caleb, and Gabriella

P.S. Let’s pray that the Patriots win the Superbowl again next year so we can do this again!!! 🙂

And we had lots of Mission Trip Groups come to us this summer to train, be equipped, and go back home to be more effective Ambassadors for Jesus where they live!

I pray that you’ll be as encouraged as I am!!!

This newsletter has mostly photos in it, so it doesn’t take too long to read.

Beach Evangelism Is Way Better than Politics!!!

Posted on Oct 27 , 2016 in Beach & Blog & Street_Evangelism

Dear praying friends,

My website has been “on the fritz” for the past few months, but thankfully it’s back up and running. So I’m going to try to post updates from the outstanding summer of ministry God gave us.

And since myself and just about everyone I know is REALLY SICK OF POLITICAL DEBATES, I thought it would be MUCH MORE EDIFYING to see how God used ordinary Christians to seek and save the Lost.

Despite all the discouraging stories in the news, God is still in the business of saving the Lost, and I’m so so glad!!!

I’ll let the photos tell much of the story…

In addition to the people in the photos, some other people who stood out are:

  • Kyle: Please pray for Kyle, a 17-year-old young man who told me that it makes sense to him that he’s sinned against God. I asked him when he’s going to repent and trust Jesus, and he said, “I need to do that right away.” Please pray that his faith is genuine, and they he will “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

  • Linda: Linda approached me and Eric and told us that she had listened to us the week before, and drove all the way from Western Massachusetts to hear us again and talk to us. Wow! She shared with us that she is angry with God because her daughter (in her 20’s) had passed away. It actually sounds like her daughter was saved by the way Linda described her daughter’s faith and what she said about God! But it didn’t appear that Linda was saved. Eric and I were able to explain the gospel message to her and she allowed us to pray with her. By the end of the conversation, Linda said she wanted to attend a church that teaches the Bible accurately! Praise God! I wasn’t aware of any near her town, so I asked around, and found a great Church that came highly recommended. Linda and I communicated for weeks via text messages, and she shared photos of her deceased daughter, as well as her other children and grandchildren. She told me that she has asked God to forgive her heart and change her heart.

  • Matthew and Leslie: It’s always tremendous to be able to encourage other Christians, and fun when we run into the same ones more than once. I recognized Matthew and Leslie from last summer (but I did forget their names. Whoops.) Matthew used to be a Jehovah’s Witness. We had a superb conversation building one another up last summer, and he was so happy to see us on the beach again this summer. He came right over for a hug and encouraging words! Praise God!

  • Eli: Eli is a thoughtful Jewish 18-year-old. We had a great talk about why we all need a blood sacrifice, and only Jesus qualifies. He took a copy of my testimony, entitled, A Jew and His God.

  • Jake: Jake is a high-schooler who came right up to me after my message and asked me if he could have a Bible. He told me he had been questioning recently. I gladly gave him a Bible and an evangelistic DVD!

  • Steve: God sent the perfect person to talk with Steve, a paralyzed Christian man in a wheelchair. David, one of our volunteers, is one of the gentlest, sweetest men you’ll ever meet. He has strong gifts in encouragement, and he was able to give encouragement to Steve. Praise God!

  • Alex and Emma: Sometimes people come and ask apologetic questions that are one their mind. It’s funny that they trust a stranger with these questions, but they do! This was the case with Alex and Emma, two teenagers who wanted to know if the Bible really teaches that Jesus was perfect. So we opened the Scriptures with them and showed them. We exhorted them to trust Christ, the Perfect One, and gave them gospel literature.

  • Umburto: Umburto is a Portuguese man who spoke with us, but was hung up on whether miracles can really happen. We reasoned with him that if God can create everything out of nothing, then it’s not too hard for God to perform a miracle. Of course it’s always a miracle when the Holy Spirit makes someone alive in Christ, and that’s what we want for Umburto.

We love you and thank Jesus for you!

Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, and notes of encouragement, without which we would not be able to reach the Lost for Jesus Christ!

Boston Evangelism Training Seminar 2016

Posted on Jul 07 , 2016 in Blog & Kids_Ministry & Street_Evangelism & Training

Every June Open Air Campaigners has an Evangelism Training Week open to Christians from all around the country.

It was my privilege to again be a part of that this year.

God sent Christians from Ohio, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, (and even Australia!) And there was a married couple attending as well, which was very very cool!

What a wonderful group of students. It was an honor to teach, and see them each do so well as they stepped out in faith and shared Christ with children and adults.

Each student learned about and did the following:

  • run a Kids Bible Club
  • teach a Bible Song to kids
  • lead a Bible Verse “hangman puzzle” with kids
  • paint up and deliver a Bible message to kids with the paint board
  • share Christ one-on-one with a kid
  • draw in a crowd of adults on the streets of Boston
  • preach a gospel message to adults in the open air
  • share Christ one-on-one with an adult
  • hand out gospel tracts to adults in the city

Please pray that each one of the students went home to their church more equipped to be effective ambassadors for Jesus Christ!

Watch out world – 8 Christians who love Jesus, love people, and hate sin have been trained in evangelism and are heading back to their parts of the country… And the gates of hell tremble!!!

This makes me want to cry (for JOY!) Dave lead a Bible Verse Memory Game, and asked the kids, "Do you know what sin is?" The girl in the back said, and I kid you not, "sinful inner nastiness!" That's what I teach the kids, and I taught her that LAST SUMMER, and this precious girl remembered that from last year! Praise God! I'm so happy that we got to teach her the great news of Jesus being the cure for sin. Hallelujah!

Great Open-Air Preaching leads to Great one-on-one conversations. Here you can see three different one-on-one gospel conversations that sprang up after one of the messages. In the middle, Micayla was talking with Simon, and she was the perfect person because she speaks Spanish. Very exciting! I used my "Google Translate" app to speak to Simon as well. HUGE OUTREACH – Big DVD Giveaway!!!

Posted on Mar 05 , 2016 in Blog & Colleges & Street_Evangelism

Dear praying friends,

Big Outreach on March 30, 2016!

I need lots of help passing out 600 evangelistic DVDs to students at the University of New Hampshire on Wednesday, March 30. Will you join us????

What You Need To Know:

  • Date: Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

  • Time: 10AM until the DVDs are gone (I’d like commitments to stay as late as 6PM – but it probably won’t last that long).

  • Place: We’ll meet at the back parking lot of Durham Evangelical Church
114 Dover Road, Durham, NH 03824
See it on Google Maps here: https://goo.gl/maps/Pm1yWQTs3w22.

  • Outdoors?: Yes, it’s outdoors, no matter the weather, so dress accordingly.

  • How Should I Dress?: We want to blend in as much as possible, so feel free to dress casually. Jeans and t-shirts are fine. It is a good idea to dress in layers. That way, if it gets chilly, you can put on a fleece jacket, but if it gets warm, you can take off a layer.

  • BRING A SNACK: We’re going to be out starting at 10am, possibly for a number of hours. So you’ll have a very late lunch (or skip right to dinner). It’s a good idea to bring some fruit or granola bars, or something that will keep your blood sugar constant.

  • BRING WATER: It is easier to get dehydrated than you think, so having a water bottle nearby is a must!

  • Anything Else?: There’s a FANTASTIC falafel place in town, so reward yourself with a superb falafel sandwich afterward!

  • Questions?: Contact Mark at 603-244-6292 or http://luke-15.org/contact-us/

  • I Want To Do It!: Contact Mark at 603-244-6292 or http://luke-15.org/contact-us/

Bible Verses to Consider:

Please actively remember that we’re representing Jesus Christ, so let’s pray that we are lead by His Spirit, and not our flesh. We are also representing Open Air Campaigners, and OAC has a long-term presence at UNH, evangelizing weekly as weather permits. The UNH Police are friendly to us because they have learned that we are respectful to students. And God honors our respect to students by allowing us to share the gospel unhindered on a nearly weekly basis. Let’s not jeopardize that by reacting harshly, even if provoked by students.

These Bible verses are very helpful to us so that we can be the friendliest people at UNH:

  • 2 Timothy 2:24-25: And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth

  • Romans 12:21: Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

  • Proverbs 15:1: A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

REMEMBER:

We’re meeting in the back parking lot of Durham Evangelical Church at 10am!

Please CALL ME AT 603-244-6292 with questions/problems/concerns/anything.

BIG OPPORTUNITY!!!

Most Christians want to be used by God to reach out to the Lost, but sometimes need help getting started.

We have a GREAT opportunity to make a huge impact for Jesus in an easy, non-threatening, non-confrontational way that is perfect if you want to get your feet wet in evangelism.

I have been given 600 evangelistic DVDs, (look at them all!!!), but one of the stipulations for getting all these DVDs for free is to give them out in one day.

I need a bunch of people to commit to heading to the University of New Hampshire on Wednesday, March 30, to pass these DVDs out.

You don’t need to be a Pastor. You don’t need to be a genius. You just have to love Jesus and love the Lost and be willing to hand out DVDs for free. You can do this!!!

Would you free up Wednesday, March 30, to join in? We’ll need lots of bodies coordinated around the campus to give out this many DVDs. Think about the impact for God’s Kingdom if even a fraction of the students watch and consider the gospel message! Very exciting!!!

It gets better! I praise God that the UNH Police were quick to grant us a permit!!!

I really do need lots of helpers, so please contact me at 603-244-6292 or mark@Luke-15.org with any questions.

And if you know anyone else who might be interested, maybe some UNH students you know who love Jesus, please let them know about this too!

The DVDs are generously being donated by Wretched Radio, a great TV and Radio show that equips Christians to share the gospel.

The DVD contains a clear, strong, precise gospel presentation featuring: Voddie Baucham, Ray Comfort, Emeal (“E.Z.”) Zwayne and Todd Friel. It’s about 28 minutes long and the DVD includes both the English and Spanish versions of the presentation!

Wretched Radio has teams all over the United States giving out the exact same DVD on the exact same day, so we’ll be part of something pretty big!

You can find more info on this outreach at: http://biggestproject.com

Whether you live nearby or not, please keep March 30 in prayer!!!

Warm Hearts in the Coldest Month of the Year (And God Protects Me From Hecklers!)

Posted on Feb 25 , 2016 in Blog & Street_Evangelism & Subways

Dear praying friends,

February is supposed to be the coldest month of the year, but I’m excited to report that we saw many many warm hearts as God used His Word and His Gospel to reach the Lost. I

I pray that this update encourages you that God is very-much alive and still at work!

I want to say something about “Hecklers,” or those who react loudly and rudely to our gospel ministry.

We typically get fewer hecklers than you might expect.

I think this is because we really do try to speak reasonably to people in our words, our tone, and body language.

Being an Evangelist does not give us a “pass” from treating people with respect and dignity.

So we don’t often get hecklers. And when we do, they typically stop fairly quickly because I do not allow my team members to respond harshly.

The two verses I ponder often when it comes to evangelism are:

  • A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1).

  • and

  • “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).

But you never know what you’re gonna get in the Subways…

In just one week’s time, I personally had TWO different obnoxious Hecklers loudly interrupt my open air message.

Get this: BOTH TIMES God provided someone from the crowd to answer the Heckler! You just don’t see that very often!

Here’s the first one…

This doesn’t happen every day. While I was sharing a message in the subway, the man on the left got in my face and started heckling VERY LOUDLY.

He kept repeating over and over “You believe in talking snakes!? You believe in talking snakes?!”

He wouldn’t let me get a word in, so I started praying, “Lord, what will I say to this man when he finally stops to take a breath?”

Amazingly, the man in the back came out from the crowd and began eloquently proclaiming Jesus and His resurrection!

He skillfully countered the heckler with Biblical truths.

He spoke OVER the Heckler, saying things like: “Listen to what this man has to say; he’s telling you the truth about God!” He said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ!” He said, “Jesus is the only way to God,” and “Jesus rose from the dead!”

Finally, the train pulled in and both the Heckler and the Christian man got onto the same train car together. (I can only imagine what that train car was like.)

I can only say, “Wow!”

And here’s the second one…

In less than one week, it happened AGAIN!

I was sharing the gospel in the subway, and a LOUD and distracting heckler (on the right) got really close to me, interrupted what I was saying, and wouldn’t let me get a word in.

I actually thought that he might physically harm me because he got really close.

I was praying, “Lord, give me the right words to say when he stops talking,” but I didn’t have to.

A man from the crowd put himself physically right in between me and the heckler, pushing him back a bit, and physically shielding me from physical harm.

The man rebuked the heckler and told him to “let the man of God continue his message.” (I’m not completely comfortable being called a “man of God” but I appreciate the kindness.)

Then others in the crowd were shaking their heads in agreement that they wanted the heckler to stop and for me to continue sharing the message.

I don’t blame you if you don’t believe this, but I can assure you that this is how it happened. And this was the SECOND time in a week that a stranger came to my aid to answer a heckler.

Wow! God provides in unimaginable ways! If my face looks funny in this photo, it’s because I was stunned. Praise God!

You never know what’s going to happen in the open air, and you never know how God will provide and answer to an awkward situation!

As you look through the sampling of photos, please please pray for the people in them.

Seeds have been planted, and we ask for prayer that God will water the seeds and that they fell into fertile hearts.

I’ll let the following photos do the explaining of some of what went on this past month.

Please pray for us and those we meet!

This is what we like to see - after an open-air message, we offer a detailed and thorough gospel booklet for people to take. It still amazes me that many many people come forward, like this woman, to take one from my hand. Others wave to me to come to them to give them one, which I'm happy to do. Still others want to talk afterwards. And sometimes people stay in touch with us, which is a blessing!

This is Jay, and he was dogmatic that Jesus was a black man. I praise God that Jay actually listened to me when I told him that it doesn't matter because, according to the Bible, there is only ONE race: the human race. We're all equal and the same. He liked that and shook my hand. He wouldn't take a gospel tract though. Please pray for Jay.

It's not uncommon for people to let us pray for them right on the spot, like Eric is doing with this young man.

This is Charlie, and he considers himself an "Atheist Anarchist." After talking to him for a while, Chris learned that Charlie used to be involved with a dangerous, controlling cult called the International Church of Christ (ICOC). Please pray for Charlie, and for more info on the ICOC, feel free to check out: http://luke-15.org/ICOC.pdf

The gospel transcends race and age. These African-American young men were GLUED to what "old man" Eric had to say. The one on the left was very concerned that he deserved to be sent to Hell, and listened as Eric shared the great news of the gospel of Jesus Christ!

This is Sarah, a Roman Catholic young lady who is VERY interested in Judaism. She let a few trains go by to let me share my testimony of how Jesus saved me. She also said she appreciated my warnings to stay away from "Modern" Judaism as it has strayed from the God's Word a few thousand years ago, and now is mostly man-made traditions that contradict what God said. She took a paper copy of my testimony and said she had a lot to think about.

This is Korif (left) and Dimitri (right), talking with Joshua (center.) Get this: Joshua met Korif in the subway ONE WEEK BEFORE and bought him a meal. Korif and Dimitri opened up about their drug addictions and homelessness. They let Joshua share the gospel with them and share the Scriptures with them. Joshua also gave them contact info for Teen Challenge, a Bible-based ministry that specializes in helping people on drugs. Please keep these young men in your prayers. Praise God for more Divine Appointments!!!

Wes here got to speak to a woman trapped in Scientology (blonde woman in the middle.) You don't need to be an expert on L. Ron Hubbard to witness to a Scientologist. You just lovingly point them to Jesus and the Scriptures. That's exactly what Wes did.

This is Paula, a 7th Day Adventist. 7th Day Adventism is a Cult that focuses on the Law of Moses, keeping the Sabbath, following their "Prophet" Ellen White, dietary restrictions, and an emphasis on end time prophesies. Proctor brilliantly skipped all of that and asked her, "Who do you think Jesus is?" and "How does someone get their sins forgiven?" Paula let a number of trains go by to talk with Proctor. Please keep her in prayer.

This is Millie, a sweet Jewish woman who is FASCINATED that I'm Jewish and believe in Jesus. She and I talked for over a half hour! She asked tons of great questions, and allowed me to show her the answers in the Scriptures. Get this: I met her 2 years ago and witnessed to her then. She and I both remembered one another from 2014. There's more: her next-door neighbor is a Born-Again Pastor and Millie really likes him. She kept telling me that my answers sound like the ones he gives. I got her phone number and she wants to have lunch with me and her Pastor. So cool! Millie had a BIG problem admitting that she's a sinner. Please pray that God breaks her self-righteousness and saves her. What a Divine Appointment!

This is Emmie, and she eavesdropped on me one week prior when I was sharing Jesus with someone else on the train. On this day we ran into her again and she told Ray (pictured) and me that she remembered the conversation from the week before. Isn't that great? Emmie claims to have trusted in Christ. What are the chances of running into her twice in one week? God clearly has His hands in everything that comes to pass.

Eric had a great conversation with this Muslim man from the Sudan. In his left hand is a copy of "The Gospel of Luke" in Arabic that he took with him. As more Muslims move to the United States, we get to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Very exciting!

I met Soon, (on my right). He's a Missionary from Tennessee, and he's leading a Mission Trip of Korean Students in Boston who are training to be Evangelists. They listened to me open air preach in the subway and loved it. Soon said he's going to get me in touch with a local Korean Church so I'll have a place to refer Koreans who I meet during street ministry. What an encouragement for all of us! Praise God!

There's a LOT cool about this photo: 1) This is Brian, a subway musician who was about to start playing where we were ministering (which would have drowned out the gospel preaching). When I pointed out to him that we had that spot first, he left angry and heckled me. 2) Chris approached him and they spoke for over a half hour! 3) Brian admitted to Chris that he's interested in the "mystical" and "new age." 4) Chris was the perfect person to talk to Brian about that because Chris used to be in the "new age" and witchcraft, and shared his testimony of how Jesus delivered him. God took an awkward situation with a musician who was about to steal our spot, and turned it into a Divine Appointment. Yay Jesus! Please pray for Brian.

Someone littered the subway with an Antisemitic/Anti-Israel bumper sticker, and Chris couldn't stand it, so he climbed up on a railing to peel off the sticker! It's hard to tell from the photo, but that sticker is really high up at the top of a stairways!

I love this photo because so many people are looking at and paying attention to Eric as he shares the gospel message. I'm so thankful to God that we have freedom to proclaim Jesus in the open air, and that the Lost are reached. Please be encouraged... God is at work!

In addition to the people in the photos, some other people who stood out are:

  • David: David is a young man who was wearing a baseball cap that had the “F-word” in large letters on it. After listening to my message, he came up to me and said very meekly, “I don’t go to church, but will you pray for me?” He didn’t say much, and boarded his train to leave, but not before taking gospel literature.

  • Corey: I was giving an open air message, and had just explained repentance, when a man in his 20’s walked right up in front of me and interrupted politely. He said, “Hey, I pushed you yesterday, and I’m really sorry.” So I thought back to the day before and I vaguely remembered being shoved. I said, “Of course I forgive you. I don’t remember anyone pushing me. I thought I got shoved just because it gets busy with a lot of people down here.” But he said, “No, I knew what I was doing and I did it on purpose.” He said this in front of everyone who was listening to my message. I asked his name, and he said, “Corey.” I told him my name and told him that I forgive him. We shook hands in front of everyone. He told me (and everyone else), “I am dealing with anger issues, but you’re alright.” I encouraged him to seek Christ and he nodded and left. What an amazing (and unexpected) object lesson for the crowd of Biblical repentance. Corey didn’t make up excuses for why he pushed me. He admitted it, owned it, and apologized for it. I pray that he finds forgiveness in Christ through the gospel!

  • Ricardo: I was really glad that my friend, Proctor, was with me the day Ricardo came by. Proctor is a nurse, and Ricardo is a War Veteran suffering from PTSD. He was having visible side effects because he abruptly took himself off of medications without his Doctor’s help or guidance. Proctor was able to talk to him about his PTSD and his medications, and we prayed for him that he would seek Jesus and know Him as Savior. Ricardo appreciated it and told us he was going to the hospital now to get a refill of the medications that he took himself off of.

  • Lena: While I was handing out gospel tracts, Lena came around the corner and just stared at me. She told me that she hadn’t prayed to God in 3 years, but that morning she prayed for the first time. She was taken aback that after praying to God for the first time in three years, just a few hours later she ran into me, a Christian handing out Bible literature. Lena thanked me and promised to read it and seek the Lord Jesus!

  • Maria: Maria is a polite Christian woman who recently arrived in the US from Guatemala. She came right over to our team and addressed us formally as “Evangelists.” She asked for tracts in Spanish and wanted extras to give to her family and friends!

  • Billy: One of my team members, Wes, got into a good conversation with a young man named Billy. Billy shared with Wes how God had recently delivered him out of the homosexual lifestyle. Praise Jesus!

  • Sage: Honestly, being an open air preacher can be discouraging. There are times I think nobody is listening. One day I gave a short message that, in my mind, nobody was listening to, and it didn’t appear to me to be very engaging. Well, God knows how to encourage! A young woman named Sage came right up to me after my message and said emphatically, “Praise God! Keep doing what you’re doing!” God used Sage to encourage me just when I needed it!

  • William: William is a Veteran in his 60’s and a Roman Catholic. He said he doesn’t understand “Born Again.” He kept insisting that God will honor his track record of good deeds and military service and let him into Heaven for that. Very sad. Please pray that the Holy Spirit moves in William.

  • Zayda: Zayda is a Hispanic woman who confided in me that her husband had just past away 2 weeks previous. She was very concerned about how her daughter, Barbara, is taking it. She said Barbara is asking a lot of questions about eternity. She thanked me for giving her a gospel tract. I promised to pray for Zayda and Barbara.

  • Immanuel and Abinet: Of these two young men, Abinet appeared to be the one most moved and convicted by the gospel message. He said he grew up in a Christian home, but doesn’t follow the Lord. I’m certain he has a mom praying for him, hoping that he’d run into other Christians to share Christ with him again. Please pray for this young man.

  • An Ethiopian Muslim: Eric didn’t get this young man’s name, but he stood out because he said something you almost never hear from a Muslim. After talking with Eric, he said “I realize that I need God’s grace.” This is nearly unheard of for a Muslim, as Islam doesn’t have a concept of grace. Very exciting!

  • Manny: Manny is a young man who grew up Roman Catholic, but says he’s looked into Mormonism and Christianity. When I took him through “The Good Person Test” he admitted that he’s not good enough to go to Heaven. But instead of being interested in grace, he said that he will be good enough to earn his way in by the end of his life.

  • Diane: It’s amazing what giving a gospel tract to a stranger can lead to. When I gave one to Diane, a middle-aged African-American woman, she got sooo excited, and said she’s looking for a good church and asked me to recommend one. She gave me her email address and I had the privilege to send her info on a solid Bible-believing Church not too far from where she lives!

  • Atheist Racist Guy: My friend, Proctor, was ministering with me in the subway, when he received a racist comment. Proctor is African-American, and an Atheist white man walked right up to Proctor and said, “How can you, as a Black man, follow the religion of your oppressor?” I thank God for Proctor, because he ignored the race-baiting, and merely told the man that the issue isn’t race, but getting your sins forgiven. Jesus is Savior for all races. The man argued for a bit about Christianity stealing from Egyptian mythology (a ridiculous position we hear from time to time). We didn’t get his name, but God knows his name. Please pray for him. Thanks!

  • Melanie: Melanie is one of the sweetest and nicest Jehovah’s Witnesses I have ever spoken with. She’s only 19 years old, but is very intelligent and well-spoken. What’s really cool is that just a few days before, I updated a “Cheat Sheet” that shows where in the Bible that Jesus is God, so it was fresh in my mind. After reviewing a few Scriptures from her own Jehovah’s Witness translation that show Jesus’ deity, she asked me outright, “Well, who raised Jesus from the dead?” I said, “I’m so glad you asked. Great question!” And I had her open to John 2:19-22 and had her read it aloud. Then I said, “Who was it who raised Jesus from the dead?” And she said, “Huh? I think I’m going to have to study up on this one.” This is HUGE because Jehovah’s Witnesses hardly ever show indications that you’re reaching them. I told her, “Melanie, you’re bright. You can see that Jesus raised Himself from the dead. Jesus is God.” Please pray that she turns away from the Jehovah’s Witness cult and turns to the true Jesus of the Bible. And please pray that I’ll run into her again. And if you want that “Cheat Sheet” on the Trinity, you can download it for FREE at: http://luke-15.org/trinity.pdf.

If you want to see what an Open Air message looks like in the subway, I made up a spontaneous one on “Ash Wednesday” because I saw so many people with ashes on their foreheads. Please feel free to watch this short gospel presentation below…

Exciting! Muslim Woman Saved in Vienna!!!

Posted on Jan 28 , 2016 in Blog & Street_Evangelism

Dear Saints,

Meet the Höfler family: Stefan, Judith, Hannah, Lisa, and Benjamin.

They’re Missionaries with Open Air Campaigners in Austria.

God recently used them, and their ministry partner, Dave Knight, to change the life of a Muslim woman in Vienna forever.

I’m soooo excited to share this with you!

It’s a powerful reminder that “Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases” (Psalm 115:3).

The following is Dave Knight’s account of what happened:

One of my ministry trips this summer saw me preaching with the Sketchboard along with a team in Stephansplatz, the main central square of Vienna, Austria. We had a large team and large crowds. A young Muslim woman came forward after I gave the invitation and here is her story.

She told the women who were counseling her that the previous night she had a dream. In her dream she was in a river of blood along with thousands of her religion. Many extremists were doing deadly acts which filled the river with even more blood. All of them together were heading over a precipice to destruction. She wanted to get out of the river of blood but did not know how.

Her god seemed powerless to help and in fact seemed to be the cause of the problem.

In her dream she decided to pray to the Christian’s God. Immediately in her dream she saw a painting of a green hill with a red cross on the top of it. There was a man standing in front of the painting saying “Come to Jesus.”

The very next day as she walked through the city square she saw that same painting and the same man with outreached hand saying “Come to Jesus.” I was that man.

She walked up to me and said “I want to know Jesus.”

What a blessing to see and meet this woman at our church service in Vienna the next day. I preached on being “Fishers of People” and afterwards this young woman exclaimed that she was first a caught fish but now a fisherman who would go out and tell her family how they can be saved by trusting in Jesus alone. The Lord is calling people out of every religion to be saved. Praise Him!

Dave_Knight_ViennaHere’s what this woman saw on the streets of Vienna the day after her dream. She saw Dave Knight and Stefan Höfler at the sketch board. Notice the “painting of a green hill with a red cross on the top of it” just like in her dream the night before. And Dave was crying out with outstretched hands, “Come to Jesus,” just like in her dream the night before.

WOW!

This gives me this chills! I certainly hope and pray that this is a great encouragement to you.

Stefan Höfler said about this amazing event, “God does prepare divine appointments when we go out to share the Good News. Let us pray for them!” Amen!

This is also a great encouragement to me for a second reason. It’s great to know that God has lead me to serve with a Missions organization that is reaching out all over the world. I don’t often get to meet my International Open Air Campaigners colleagues, but it’s great to know they’re out there in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, etc., sharing Christ by all means everywhere.

We love you and thank God for you! Please contact us anytime and let us know how we can pray for you!

Thank you so much for your prayer support, financial support, and notes of encouragement, without which we could not be out reaching the Lost for Jesus!

And please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be blessed by it!

For Christ and His gospel,

Mark, Shelby, Vivienne, Juliana, Caleb, and Gabriella
